Millions of Stories...
A place for the geek in all of us.
Imagine yourself among highlanders this weekend, with stone throwing contests, and giant poles being thrown through the air. You immerse yourself in kilts and haggis', perhaps you catch a snooze in a grotto to the tune of harps, hoping that when you open your eyes you will in fact be in Scotland. I'm planning on it!
The Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival is a great way to expose the kids to their heritage. My children are Scot-Irish with a smatter of Welsh. I've been wanting to take them to the festival for years, but like everything something always comes up! But, not this weekend, this weekend we will be dreaming of Scotland.
The festival we are attending is in Florence, Massachusetts located at Look Park. The kids can have haggis, taste over 11 varieties of Welsh cookies, hang out with sheepdogs and dance with the highland dancers. They also have a pub, with mead. Did mention that I love mead? Yeah,I do.
Our heritage history
Many clans will be represented at the event this year. Our clan is clan Donald, Macgregor is not going to be represented. They are available to get involved with, and it's a great way to start learning more about your family heritage.
Clan Donald, is one of the largest clans in Scotland.
Clan Donald's website states:
See! It's great to connect culturally at these fairs. I can't wait to have the kids sign up for celtic dance.
What can you expect if you attend?
By attending you are keeping culture alive, just by your mere presence.Yes, we live in a blended country, but it is still very important to teach our children about the culture of their ancestors and close living relatives.
So even if you aren't Scottish, come to the festival July 15th 2017 and learn something new. Who knows maybe you'll meet a bonnie lad there and kilts might soon become your thing!
Videos of last year's festival thank you Youtube!!
