“There are darknesses in life and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights.”
Dracula's castle sits in the Carpathian mountains, and draws tourists largely because of Bram Stoker's book- Dracula. A blood thirsty drinker of human blood is celebrated in Romania as a local legend and a his castle as a primary attraction for travel and tourism. Right now you can get yourself out to Transylvania to visit the castle and get a chocolate from the Easter Bunny.
If you haven't heard enough there will be a photo exhibit as well of traditional Carpathian Easter customs, a show by local villagers, and of course the Easter Bunny. The Carpathian mountains are filled with legends, and traditions. On Palm Sunday, families go out to collect willow branches, then they are blessed at church and hung in the home-they believe that the branches now have healing properties. The Easter egg is one of the pre-christian symbols still embraced today here -well in most parts of the world. They paint the Pysanka on their eggs- learn how to do that here.
The castle was recently returned to the royal family, and has again become a residence for nobles. It's Dracula's castle, even though the site insists that Dracula is a fictional character that resembles Vlad the Impaler slightly. According to the castle's site-they even buried a heart on the property, recently (which is in the past 50 years) that is young considering the castle is over 500 years old!
The Easter bunny is on his way, because April 1 starts soon. Great places to find a deal to take your family to the castle is Booking.com. I love that site, because it actually has the lowest rates on airfare, homes, and car rentals. Yes, I work with Booking.com, but that is only because I love their stuff. I do not post anything on here that is not something that I use.
