With all the things to see and do in Florida from St. Augustine, to Disneyworld-how can anyone get it all done? I have seen Disney, and each time you go back they have something new to see-it's those darned imagineers they never stop working. It's very cold, white and snowy here so today I wanted to cover the coolest spots in Florida to visit.
Sanibel is a popular family spot, there are a ton of shells on it's beaches, ripe for the plucking. The island was named (in one story) after Roderigo Lopez the first mate of Jose Gaspar who missed his love in Spain-so he named the island Sanibel. This might or might not be true, there are several theories on the origins of the names. We know there were tons of pirates here! But, it's Florida pirates were everywhere.
The Everglades, a green, lush, alligator infested homestead with paths trailing dangerously close to their homeland. There is only one place to get a air boat tour with Everglades Boat Rentals These gliders let you move across the top of the swamps while brushing the mosquitoes out of your teeth.
As you can see, Devil's Den is unique. Prehistoric they call it-fossils are stuck in the cave walls, museums have taken some for their collections as well. The steam that comes out of the hole in the top of the cave looks ominous, so Florida's settlers called it the Devil's den. You can rent a two person cabin, and eat there from a neat little food truck. The water is 72 degrees year round.
